Walk Wellington tours have a very low impact on the environment. Our guides come to the meeting point either by public transport or on foot. So come and join the guide in green vest for a very environmentally friendly tourism activity!
The Essential Wellington Walk departs from the i-SITE Visitor Centre 111 Wakefield St, (opposite the end of Cuba St) at 10am daily. (See image below) or Find us on Google Maps.
Get to know Wellington's waterfront, downtown, courts and parliamentary areas in an easy walk of 2 to 2.5 hours duration. Your guide will introduce you to the history, sights and culture of our vibrant city.
The charge for this walk is $25 per person, and can be booked as follows:

Advance bookings are recommended in the busy summer months.
At the i-SITE, up to the walk departure time,or by phoning the i-SITE on 04 802 4860 .
The walking route is one-way, allowing you to continue exploring the city after you farewell your guide.
The route is not currently accessible by wheelchair due to building work in the Civic Square. When this work is complete access will again be possible.
Note that there are no walks on Christmas Day or Good Friday.

Heritage/Cable Car walk
For the convenience of passengers on cruise ships as well as independent travellers, a special walk commences at the shuttle bus drop-off point Lower Lambton Quay, outside the Old Government Building at 9.30am. Find us on Google maps
Note that because this walk operates on cruise ship visit days, on demand only, bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.

About us
Walk Wellington has been running guided walking tours in Wellington City since November 1999.
Walk Wellington is run co-operatively by a team of trained and experienced volunteer guides. Each guide has their own particular interests, for example local history, attractions, architecture, built and natural environment, and all are trained to give an absolutely, positively, fantastic general introduction to New Zealand’s Capital City. All guides are passionate Wellingtonians and love to have a chance to show off their home town.
