Essential Wellington Walk
Start of tour at i-site in Takina Convention Centre with guide John
Take a walk - Every day at 10.00am ... The Essential Wellington Walk gives you an excellent introduction into this exuberant, walkable city and its people. Our guides have a deep knowledge and love of Wellington and enjoy helping to make your visit an absolutely positively fantastic experience.
We recommend that you take this walk preferably at the start of your stay, because then we can give you lots of information that will help you to make the most of the rest of your time in Wellington.
The walk takes 2 to 2.5 hours, and we walk rain or shine, so dress to suit the weather.
Booking and start point is at the i-site Visitor Centre at the Takina Convention Centre 50 Cable St (Opposite Te Papa)
Our 10.00am Essential Wellington Walk features the waterfront, Queen's Wharf, Old Bank Arcade, Lambton Quay, Supreme Court*, The Old Government Buildings, Parliamentary precinct and Old St Paul's Cathedral. Your guide will also consider any special interests you have and alter their route if possible to take these in.
Note that there are no walks on Christmas Day or Good Friday and that some points of interest may not be accessible at weekends, holidays and when closed for special functions.
Note that our Essential Wellington Walk is accessible by wheelchair but there is a slope up to the Parliament Buildings.
The walk is 'one way' and you can continue your exploration of Wellington after you farewell the guide.
