Important information

Changed starting point for morning and evening walking tours -

Update 22 November 2016

Following the recent earthquake activity in NZ, our walking tours are operating as normal.

However the starting point for our 10am and 5.30pm walking tours has been changed.

Previous information gives the booking location and starting point as the i-SITE information centre in Civic Square, at the corner of Victoria, Wakefield and Mercer Streets.

The new location is at the relocated i-SITE information centre at the Michael Fowler Centre Ticket Office 111 Wakefield St, about 200m further east, and opposite the end of Cuba St. .

It can be accessed easily by walking across the Civic Square towards the harbour, then turning right to pass between the Town Hall and the Michael Fowler Centre. The Ticket Office is on your left on the Wakefield side of the Michael Fowler Centre, and is acting as a temporary i-SITE centre in the short term.

An alternative route is to walk on the footpath outside of Civic Square, along Wakefield St .

Daily Wellington Walks
The Essential Wellington Walk departs from the i-SITE Visitor Centre Civic Square at 10am daily
Get to know Wellington's waterfront, downtown, courts and parliamentary areas in an easy walk of just over 2 hours duration.  Your guide will introduce you to the history, sights and culture of our vibrant city.
This walk terminates in the Old St Paul's Cathedral in Mulgrave St Thorndon, enabling you to explore this fine building at your leisure.

The Summer Evening Walk departs from outside the i-SITE Visitor Centre Civic Square side at 5.30pm on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in summer (December through to the end of March). The extended period is new for 2017 in response to increased demand.
This shorter walk of just over 1 1/2 hours duration covers some of the same sights as the morning walk before heading to the Courtenay Place entertainment area.  This walk terminates in the Embassy Theatre Courtenay Place.

Both of the walking routes are one-way, allowing you to continue exploring the city after you farewell your guide.
Note that there are no walks on Christmas Day or Good Friday.

Both of these walks can be booked in advance on line, on the day at the i-SITE Visitor Centre Civic Square, or directly with the guide.
