Daily Wellington Walks

Take a walk - Every day at 10.00am ... Daily Wellington Walks give you an excellent introduction into this exuberant, walkable city and its people. Our guides have a deep knowledge and love of Wellington and enjoy helping to make your visit an absolutely positively fantastic experience. During the summer, from 1 December to 31 March, take advantage of Wellington's long days with an evening walk on Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 5.00pm.

We recommend that you take one of these walks at the start of your stay because then we can give you lots of information that will help you to make the most of the rest of your time in Wellington.

Morning walks take just over 2 hours, and evening walks 1-1/2 hours. We walk rain or shine, so it's best to dress to suit the weather.

Daily Wellington Walks leave from the i-SITE Visitor Centre 111 Wakefield St (at Cuba st). Look for the guide in the bright, green vest!

Our 10.00am Essential Wellington Walk features Civic Square, the waterfront, Queen's Wharf, Old Bank Arcade, Lambton Quay, Supreme Court, The Old Government Buildings, Parliament, Old St. Paul's Cathedral and more. Your guide will also consider any special interests you have and alter their route if possible to take these in.

Note that our Daily Wellington Walks are wheelchair accessible, but there is a slope up to the Parliament Buildings.

Our 5.00pm Summer Evening Walk features Civic Square, The Old Bank Arcade, Lambton Quay, Queen's Wharf, the waterfront, Courtenay Place, The Embassy Theatre and more.

This walk is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for the months of December, January,  February, and March.  This walk commences at 5pm rather than the later time of 5.30 pm which may be in older information.

Note that both walks are 'one way' and you will continue your exploration of Wellington after you farewell the guide.
